Awakening Being Module 9

Alan Klima

Has the time come to turn your heart into

a temple of fire?

Your presence is gold

hidden in dust.

To reveal its splendor,

you need to burn in the fire of love.

-- Rumi --

Your Presence is Gold

Spiritual seeking or meditative presence will likely include, in a sense, birth into a new way of emotional being.

When we start spiritual inquiry very often stuff bubbles up. It's the beingness casting out what has been held tight in repetitive patterns and seemingly hard forms.

At the same time we may also start becoming aware of the subtle vibration of presence, of the primary "I Am," and the way joy, love, compassion, and unshakableness emanate from that and into in the world of form. A joy that is always here.

This is the new emotional life, in which all other emotions may play out still, but in which there is more now, this steady vibration of presence we increasingly recognize as the most intimate and primary vibration of our being.

As you go on, this is really what you live for. Love is the true and only food of the beingness. Or we could say "the feelingness."

It is also the very same energy that gets twisted or fixed into the seemingly solid forms of all the other emotions. But in truth all emotions are just this one, processed and shaped through story and context. That processing is temporary. It falls apart and these emotional forms pass, but this primary emotional energy does not pass in that way.

And because of this, all emotions may dissolve into the fire of this one. Sometimes the hard wood of tighter emotions feeds into this fire and then this joy may burn hot, and sometimes it will burn hot with passion on it's own, due to sudden inspiration or external circumstances.

In either case the new emotional life consists of turning attention away from the hardened forms of emotions to the primary one, not placing so much importance on passing emotions and instead keeping the eye on the beloved, while letting everything that is denied our devotion wriggle and burn if it must.

What burns is merely the seeming importance of the passing forms. It is all really love anyway, and we are devoting ourselves to every emotion's source anyway.

As this process goes on, it becomes like a refinery, and the warmth is clear and clean, and the precious gold of your presence shines.

You only have to love this. That seals in your practice. That is practice.
