Awakening Being Module 2

Alan Klima

Your Practice is Supported and Protected by Setting a Few Conditions in Body and Mind

This module plays in the seeming contradiction between your awakening being that already is here, perfect and complete, and the act of practice. And the meditations play in the spectrum between awakening being practices and the skill development of concentration.

But first comes the most important condition for your practice, which is a strong and precise intention to awaken to the truth of what you are and what is.

In this module we'll practice awakening being meditations that align with the flow of experience, without chasing after particular experiences or trying to become a certain way. We'll include variety of concentration-developers so that, if you find it helpful, you can focus a bit on increasing this skill of concentration.

Remember (from the call) developing concentration is just an optional skill no different than arranging your environment.  You wouldn't get frustrated about how you set up a meditation space so you shouldn't take concentration personally either. It's not a test!

This intention can be tapped into with short times free of the objections of the thinking mind. And, it can be developed over time. It is one of the pillars for practicing awakening being, and the only one that's necessary.

Along with a strong and precise intention, the foundational supports for meditation practice include creating a conducive environment, comporting the body in a suitable manner for you, and developing concentration skills. All of these avenues should be explored, reviewed and periodically renewed in our practice. By not skipping over them--and once in a while re-invigorating them-- we can be sure that our practice is safe and sound.
